UAE Charge d'Affaires Summoned to Foreign Ministry

TEHRAN Charge d'Affaires of the United Arab Emirates to Iran was summonred to the Foreign Ministry here Wednesday in protest against the irresponsible statements made by the UAE Minister of Information and Culture Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed An-Nahyan against Iran. Sheikh ABdullah Bin Zayed An-Nahyan said in an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that Iran is a threat to the region.

Head of the Foreign Ministry's second office on Persian Gulf, Asghar Mohammadi conveyed Iran's protest and dissatisfaction to the Charge d'Affaires over Sheikh Abdullah's anti-Iran statement. Mohammadi expressed regret and surprise at Sheikh Abdullah's statement and said the statement was against current realities and aimed at sabotaging Tehran-Abu Dhabi relations. The Iranian official said such statements serves only the interests of enemies of the Islamic Ummah especially the Zionist regime.

The UAE Charge d'Affaires said Iran and the United Arab Emirates have friendly relations and he would convey Iran's protest to the UAE officials and inform Iran of the results as quickly as possible.
